full time Senior SUN UNIX Administrator

Prestigious Trading Firm, located in the Chicago Loop, is currently seeking a Senior SUN UNIX Administrator with Linux skills as well. Candidate will join a team of highly skilled Unix administrators who architect, build, maintain, and support a proprietary trading infrastructure.


Job Description:

- Architect, build, maintain, and support Unix infrastructure

- Provide third party and internal trading system support for Unix systems

- Interact closely with developers and traders to improve Unix architecture and operations
- Work with other IT engineers to research and implement new technologies
- Architect and implement flexible, scalable, robust systems
- Create and maintain system documentation

Required Experience:

- 8+ years Unix administration and support

- Expert at Solaris 10, highly skilled in Linux
- Experience with system and network performance tuning

- Experience with Sun x86 hardware
- Experience in network file systems and storage including SAN, NAS, NFS administration and tuning
- Experience with automating server builds, Jumpstat, Kickstart, configuration management.

- Experience with clustering

- Advanced scripting skills

- Background in networking architecture and troubleshooting
- Ability to manage multiple projects and integrate new project requirements effectively
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work off hours and early morning hours when required
- Experience with mail systems a plus

- Experience with major trading exchanges is a plus


Education/Certifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field is preferred
