Requires: Requires: BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related discipline with 5 years directly related experience with Sun Microsystems Enterprise class hardware setup with Solaris operating system and 5 years experience in Linux Red Hat operating system configuration and operation. Experience with Veritas software (Volume Manager, Filesystem and Netbackup software used to support backup processes). Experience in network architecture and protocols (TCP/IP, SNMP), physical, Data Link Layer, and Ethernet. Experience in scripting writing using SH shell, KSH shell and Perl. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, network or software problems. Demonstrated strengths in teaming and communication.
Desires: Master's degree with enterprise server administration experience. Other desirable skills include extensive experience with storage area networks, performance monitoring tools, SSH, TCP Wrapper, WU FTP, server virtualization, use of configuration management processes and understanding of Solaris 10 Zones.
Will: Install, configure, operate and monitor the JPL IT Operations Support Team UNIX based servers, operating environment, and institutional service applications. Team with System Administrators, Service Engineers and Database Administrators in general problem solving and performance tuning of service applications. Will install and maintain third party software. Work with security personnel in resolving system security issues. Participate in Disaster Recovery planning and testing. Participate in preparing and maintaining procedural documentation. Prepare project schedules for major system changes.
