Description: Programmer I – 09-0633

GENERAL FUNCTION:

Works under direct supervision to develop and maintain software applications.

REPORTING FUNCTION:

Accountable to an IT Manager or IT Project Manager

REPRESENTATIVE ACTIVITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Be involved in software implementation, including coding, testing and integration, documentation, and maintenance.
2. Adhere to ARUP*s established software life cycle standards.
3. Participate in source code reviews.
4. Perform technical writing duties related to the documentation of software applications.
5. Perform quality assurance duties related to software products, including unit testing and system functionality testing.
6. Develop expertise in ARUP*s evolving software development tools and environments.
7. Participate in continuing education activities in order to improve development skills and stay informed about new ideas and advances in technology that may impact software development efforts at ARUP.

Prefer experience in web development using Microsoft Visual Studio, unit testing, TDD, WCF, agile methodologies. Applicant must possess a collaborative / cooperative working style.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

1. BS in computer-related major or high school diploma (or equivalent) plus significant on-the-job programming experience.
2. Classroom or on-the-job experience using software development languages and tools related to development environments utilized at ARUP.
3. Demonstrable analytical and programming skills.
4. Demonstrable oral and written communication skills.
