Position Description:
" Understand technical environment for DB2 on z/OS in SAP environment
" DB2 administration with SAP Basis background
" Working knowledge of DB2 utilities on DB2 version 9 and up
" Plans and implement disaster recovery for DB2 system with SAP
" Backup and Recovery methodology of DB2 for z/OS
" Depth knowledge of High Availability of SAP applications on z/OS
" Familiarity of IBM tools to monitor database
" Extensive experience with zOS and zLinux diagnostics
" Administer DB2 for z/OS in a heterogeneous SAP environment with Linux, Unix and Windows application servers using tools within the SAP system and on the database level
" Find performance bottlenecks and perform basic tuning on the database
Responsibilities:
" Prepare the IBM DB2 for z/OS platform to run SAP Net Weaver (ECC, BI, Portal and PI)
" Execute daily DBA System Checks for SAP
" DB2 Performance Monitoring & Tuning
" Experience with DB2 Stored Procedures; WLM Application Environments
" Knowledgeable in DB2 mainframe backup and recovery
" Knowledge of DB2 mainframe utilities (REORG/RUNSTATS/COPY/DSN1COMP/MODIFY/QUIESCE)
" DB2 Data Sharing/Parallel Sysplex experience; Familiar with Coupling Facility Structures for DB2
" Perform general technical trouble shooting
" SAP Application performance monitoring
" Review Statement Cache statistics to identify poorly performing SQL; be able to take appropriate action to remedy.
" Work with developers to ensure efficient sql code. Run traces as necessary to assist in problem determination.
" Use DBACOCKPIT transaction to identify problem jobs (long running UR's, deadlocks, timeouts)
" Create new indexes in SAP as required for performance
" Monitor object sizes and perform table partitioning as object size or application dictates
" Buffer pool tuning. Use DB2B transaction to evaluate bufferpool assignments and re-assign as necessary. Ongoing task (quarterly)
" Evaluate bufferpool parameters to ensure efficient usage. VPSIZE, VPSEQT, Deferred thresholds
" Evaluate objects for compression using DSN1COMP utility.
" Create, schedule and monitor DBA utility jobs via DB13 or available mainframe tools.
" Identify maintenance needs for objects not handled by SAP GUI (Java schema;Portal)
