Most Common Job-Interview Questions
Although, no specific set of questions may apply for every job. But after considering most of the interview at least we can categorize them to prepare us before the interview. Some categories have been discussed in this article.
Open ended questions
These questions are asked to be more familiar with the candidate, like “Tell me about yourself?”Although this is one of the easies question but most of the candidates fail to defend it correctly. For this question you need to examine yourself and no one knows you better than you just find out some qualities and experience which you can think can be mentioned there. Another question may be “Why should we hire you?” you should give this answer very carefully in fact it decides 50% chance of yours to get selected if answers carefully and if interviewer becomes satisfied with your answer, there may be various way to tackle with this question like if you know the prerequisites of your job then can mention them.
Questions related to your domain knowledge
These questions are related to the subjects which are prerequisite for that particular job. And you need to spend some extra effort before few days of interview to tackle them easily. Interviewer may not directly ask the questions from your textbook but it may be the applications of whatever you have read so try to get full knowledge of your domain subjects.
Confusing Questions
These questions include certain dilemma, problematic situations. By asking this question they want to see that how you take a decision and then how defend your decision. e.g. They may ask you “If our rival company offers you more salary in future, will you join them?” there may not be a fix answer of such kind of question but you should give such answer for which you have a reasonable explanation. It is not necessary to give all answers in the favor of company whom you are going to join but you should defend your answer carefully. Situations may be given to you to check that how you manage or you have leadership, problem solving skills or not.
Instantaneous Questions
These questions are not prepared by interviewer but have same purpose just to check your presence of mind, IQ level or sense of humor. It may include silly questions also. Sometimes interviewer can ask wrong questions also to check that you are listening carefully or not.
It is not necessary that always questions will be asked under these four categories there may be some questions outside of our discussion but always follow this rule that whatever answer you give,just defend it confidently and have a positive explanation for it.
